ABE/GED
ABE - Adult Basic Education
All Adult Basic Education (ABE) courses require permission to register and. Most are continuous enrollment. There is a $25 tuition fee for the quarter. Tuition waivers are available.

Note:
- New Students will be tested and placed in appropriate class levels.
- New Spanish GED students DO NOT need to attend an ABE/GED orientation.
GED - General Educational Development
Highline Community College is a testing center certified to
administer the GED test through the GED Testing Service of the
American Council on Education. Individuals 16 years of age or
older may earn a certificate of educational competence with a
satisfactory score on the General Educational Development test.
Arrangements for taking the test may be made through the Testing
Center. Special testing arrangements for students with
disabilities are available.
Highline offers GED Test preparation courses.
- Classes help improve reading, writing
and math in order to pass the GED test.
- Classes are held on
our main campus and other off-campus locations.
- There is a $25 tuition fee for the quarter. Tuition
waivers are available.
- Students must be 16 years of age or older, not enrolled
in high school, have educational needs below the level equivalent
of high school completion (ages 16-18 must have a release from
their school districts.)
- Spanish GED classes: Classes
are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 to 8:20 p.m. in
building
19, room 102. New students must meet with the instructor prior
to registering for the class. Spanish GED students DO NOT need
to attend an ABE/GED orientation.

ABE/GED Orientation
To enroll in a GED preparation or ABE Basics Skills course you will need to attend an orientation which takes approximately two hours.

About the ABE/GED Orientation Session
- Please arrive 10 minutes early. The orientation is about 2 hours long.
- You will need to know your Social Security Number and show a picture ID.
- If you are under the age of 18, you will need to bring your GED release form signed by your school district administration.
- During the orientation you will take a placement test to assess your reading and math skills. If you are an ESL student, the assessment test will also determine if you qualify for GED/ABE courses.
- During the orientation you will register for classes.
- Friends, family and children are not allowed at orientation or in the assessment center.

Las clases se ofrecen en el campus los lunes
y miércoles de 6:00 a 8:20 p.m. en el edificio 19 salón 102.
Esta clase acepta alumnos nuevos durante todo el trimestre. Los
alumnos nuevos deberán entrevistarse con el profesor en este
